Job description

Summary

We are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to join our existing team in supporting our students at Harris Boys' Academy East Dulwich.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Supporting students on the SEND / AEN Register
  • Helping students access support and understand the causes and consequences of their behaviours, and to modify their behaviours to gain greater academic success
  • Working closely with all academy staff to ensure that information is shared as appropriate to improve directly students' academic success
  • Staffing the learning support department, supporting students who need timetabled time for academic study
  • Knowing and understanding the learning needs of all students
  • Liaising with staff to ensure that students can make maximum progress
  • Supporting the learning and social development of students, including planning and delivering support sessions to small groups and 1:1
  • Meeting with external professionals as appropriate to meet individual students' needs
Qualifications & Experience

We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • At least 3 A-Levels or Level 3 qualifications and a good pass in GCSE English and Maths
  • A basic understanding of the emotional and physical development of adolescent young men and boys
  • Basic knowledge of strategies to improve self-esteem and self-efficacy
  • Ability to deal sensitively with difficult or stressful situations professionally
  • Ability to work creatively and flexibly, and be solution-focused
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, holding others accountable
  • Excellent interpersonal and social skills for managing complex situations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to evidence impact on student outcomes through monitoring and intervention
  • Effective time management, punctuality, and adherence to professional codes
  • Ability to communicate issues and strategies professionally and act as a coordinator with external agencies, families, and the academy
  • Willingness to be trained to further develop your knowledge and experience
