SEN Teaching Assistant - Year 3 - Primary School in Haringey - Immediate Start

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with additional needs? A welcoming and inclusive primary school in the borough of Haringey is seeking a committed and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 3 pupil with Autism on a one-to-one basis. This is a full-time, long-term position starting immediately, with the potential to continue into the next academic year for the right SEN Teaching Assistant.

This SEN Teaching Assistant role requires someone with experience in managing challenging behaviour, building rapport with young learners, and supporting social and emotional development. The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will alternate between classroom-based support and one-on-one sessions in a calm space to help the child regulate emotions and refocus on learning.

SEN Teaching Assistant - Role Overview

• Work 1:1 with a Year 3 child with Autism and behavioural needs.
• Develop and implement tailored behaviour and learning strategies.
• Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO, and external specialists.
• Help create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
• Act as a reliable, encouraging presence throughout the school day.
  
  

SEN Teaching Assistant - Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, or Support Worker.
• Calm, compassionate, and proactive in supporting challenging behaviours.
• Understanding of Autism and the strategies that support emotional regulation.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply through Reeson Education.
