A teaching assistant is needed for a special educational needs (SEN) school in North London for students aged 3 to 19.

As a teaching assistant, you will support students with a severe learning difficulties (SLD) and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). You will be helping to motivate and engage students, encouraging them to progress in their learning.

This school is easily accessible from around London, with great transport links.

Willingness to do personal care is essential for this role.

Your responsibilities as a teaching assistant may include:

* Working with and supporting students with various and complex special educational needs, which may include students who are non-verbal. Alternative communication devices, such as PECS and Makaton, may be used to communicate.
* Providing academic support, either one-on-one or in a small group.
* Promoting a positive and inclusive classroom culture and providing emotional support when needed.
* Implementing behaviour management strategies to maintain a positive and safe learning environment.
* Using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage focus and self-control.
* Assisting with lesson planning and delivery.
* Being aware of safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of students.

To be a teaching assistant you will need:

* The right to work in the UK.
* A clear and up-to-date DBS.
* Experience working as a Teaching Assistant.
* A knowledge and understanding of working with young people with SEN.
* The ability and willingness to support students with considerable and challenging physical needs.
