Job summary

The City of Liverpool College, Liverpool, is seeking a Teaching Assistant Apprentice to join the School of Engineering, Logistics & Green Technology. This full-time, permanent position supports learners across Level 1 to advanced qualifications, helping them achieve their learning goals within a large vocational curriculum.

  • Support the planning of learning, learning activities and assessment.
  • Contribute to the development of learning outcomes and achievement criteria.
  • Support individuals or groups of learners to achieve their learning goals within theory, practical and workplace sessions.
  • Help learners achieve learning goals by delivering intervention strategies.
  • Assist with numeracy and literacy development.
  • Feed back learner progress to teachers and assessors to tailor future activities.

Salary: £24,584 - £26,812Job Type: Full-time, Permanent, 35 hoursAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Teaching Assistant Apprentice to join The City of Liverpool College within the School of Engineering, Logistics & Green Technology.

As a Teaching Assistant Apprentice, you will develop the skills and experience needed to support individuals and groups of learners in achieving their learning goals across one of the largest and most diverse vocational curriculums in the city region.

Working alongside experienced teaching and support staff, you will provide valuable assistance to learners across a range of programmes, supporting their development, engagement and progress. The role may involve working with learners studying Level 1 through to advanced-level qualifications, giving you the opportunity to gain experience across a broad range of engineering, logistics and green technology disciplines.

This is a full-time Level 3 apprenticeship, providing a fantastic opportunity to develop your knowledge, confidence and practical experience within a Further Education environment while

Key Responsibilities
  1. Supporting the planning of learning, learning activities and assessment
  2. Contributing to the development of learning outcomes and achievement criteria
  3. Supporting individuals or groups of learners to achieve their learning goals within theory, practical and workplace sessions
  4. Helping individuals or groups of learners to achieve their learning goals by delivering agreed intervention strategies
  5. Helping individuals or groups of learners to achieve their learning goals by supporting numeracy and literacy development
  6. Supporting the assessment of learning by feeding back learner progress to teachers and assessors so that future activities may be modified to more effectively meet learner needs
  7. Supporting the effective use of technology within theory, practical and workplace sessions
  8. Promoting and demonstrating effective behaviours for learning
  9. Liaising with all staff, learners and stakeholders in a professional manner
  10. Contributing to the planning of learning and learning interventions with relevant stakeholders
  11. Contributing to the planning of transition and progression activities and events

Generic duties:

  1. To contribute fully to the mission and values statement of the College Group ensuring its effective implementation in all aspects of college life
  2. To take proactive responsibility for Health & Safety to ensure that a safe working environment and safe working practices are always maintained
  3. To comply with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
  4. To support cross college activities as required the key enrolment and invigilation periods
  5. To understand roles and responsibilities around safeguarding all learners
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential:

  1. Level 2 qualification in Maths/numeracy and English/literacy
  2. Good knowledge of ICT, able to support technology-based learning activities
  3. Level 4 qualification e.g. Degree or equivalent
  4. Previous experience in an educational environment
  5. A personal ambition to develop and progress within Further Education

Desirable:

  1. General awareness of safeguarding and equality, diversity and inclusivity
  2. Ability to build and form good relationships with learners across all college provision
  3. Ability to utilise strategies to support learners in achieving learning goals
  4. Ability to complete accurate learner records within college systems and specified timescales
  5. Ability to provide detailed feedback regarding learner progress and achievement
  6. Ability to encourage learners to interact with others and engage in activities led by a teacher
