Job summary

GSL Education are seeking enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Christchurch, providing valuable classroom support and helping pupils achieve their full potential in a positive and inclusive learning environment.

The role involves one-to-one and small group support, assisting with lessons and resources, and fostering a safe, supportive classroom atmosphere for students with varying learning needs. Immediate start available with flexible day-to-day and longer-term placements.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in a school or similar setting is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to apply via GSL Education is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with varying learning needs.
  • Assist pupils with classroom activities, educational tasks, and learning resources.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote student confidence and participation.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Support students with SEND where required, adapting activities to meet individual learning needs.
  • Assist with classroom preparation and organisation of learning materials.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and other professionals to support student development.

Are you a caring and dedicated Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity to support students' learning and development?

GSL Education are seeking enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Christchurch, providing valuable classroom support and helping pupils achieve their full potential in a positive and inclusive learning environment.

The successful Teaching Assistant will work alongside teachers and support staff to assist students with their academic, social, and emotional development. You will provide one-to-one and small group support, encourage confidence and independence, and help create a classroom environment where all students feel supported and motivated to learn.

Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant:
  • Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with varying learning needs.
  • Assist pupils with classroom activities, educational tasks, and learning resources.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote student confidence and participation.

Requirements of a Teaching Assistant:
  • Previous experience working with children or young people in a school or similar setting is desirable.
  • CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or an equivalent qualification is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Patient, caring, and adaptable approach to supporting learning.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children's education, wellbeing, and personal development.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply via GSL Education.
