Job summary

Simply Education Ltd is recruiting on behalf of a specialist education setting in Gloucester for an enthusiastic and caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team.

You'll support pupils aged 11-16 with SEMH needs, helping them build confidence and independence both in class and beyond. No SEN experience required, just a positive attitude and a desire to make a difference.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) - essential.
• Desire to support children and young people with additional needs.
• Ability to build trusted and professional relationships.
• Positive, creative and flexible approach.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a wider team.
• Commitment to treating every young person as an individual.

Responsibilities

• Building warm, supportive and professional relationships with pupils, helping them feel safe, valued and ready to learn.
• Supporting pupils with their learning, wellbeing and personal development.
• Encouraging independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
• Working alongside the Class Teacher to deliver engaging and differentiated learning activities.
• Supporting pupils' social, emotional, behavioural, physical and cognitive development.
• Using positive behaviour management strategies tailored to individual pupils.
• Providing additional care and wellbeing support when required.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff and other professionals.
• Helping with the smooth day-to-day running of the classroom and wider school environment.
• Completing relevant records and documentation relating to behaviour, incidents, health and pupil wellbeing.

Job description

Salary: 22,996 - 25,068 per annum ( 12.87 - 14.03 per hour), depending on experience and qualifications
Bonus: 1,500 Welcome Bonus
Contract: Permanent Full-Time Term-Time Only

What You'll Be Doing
