Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a Primary Teaching Assistant for a mainstream primary school in Gillingham. You will support pupils, including those with SEND, and assist with general classroom activities under the guidance of the class teacher.

The role is part-time and short-term, with the possibility of extension for the right candidate. A proactive, patient and energised approach to helping children succeed is essential.

Qualifications

• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification desirable.
• Experience supporting children with SEND in a mainstream primary school.
• Experience providing classroom support across the primary curriculum.
• Good safeguarding understanding and ability to support individual learning needs.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.

Responsibilities

Salary: £90 - £105 per day

The school is looking to take on a Primary Teaching Assistant on a part‑time, short‑term basis, with the potential to become a long‑term position for the right candidate. The successful Primary Teaching Assistant will support pupils with SEND alongside providing general classroom assistance, working closely with teachers to encourage pupil engagement, independence and academic progress.

The successful Primary Teaching Assistant will have:

• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable)
• Experience supporting children with SEND in a mainstream primary school
• Experience providing classroom support across the primary curriculum
• A good understanding of safeguarding and supporting children's individual learning needs
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
• An energetic, patient and enthusiastic approach with a genuine passion for helping children succeed
