Job summary

The Consortium Trust’s St Edmund’s Primary School in Hoxne, Eye, Suffolk seeks an experienced Teaching Assistant to support high-quality teaching across EYFS and Primary. You will help pupils thrive by building positive relationships with students, staff and families, while following safeguarding policies and plans with independence.

The role requires a calm, nurturing approach, strong communication, and flexibility to travel to other school sites as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience of supporting children with SEND would be advantageous.
  • Commitment to promoting inclusion and ensuring that all children feel valued and supported.
  • Calm, nurturing approach, excellent communication skills, and ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Support teaching and learning across EYFS and Primary phases.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.

Job description

  • St Edmund’s Primary School

  • Salary: £12.81 per hour (a cost of living pay award may be applied from September 2026)
  • Hours: 31.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday (job share may be available)
  • Contract: Permanent. Required from 1 October 2026

Location: St. Edmund’s Primary School, with full mobility across the trust.

Hours: 8.30am - 3.15pm with 30 minutes unpaid lunch.

St. Edmund’s Primary Schoolis seekingan experienced, dedicated, friendly, and professional Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and welcoming team. You will work across both the EYFS and Primary phases, supporting high-quality teaching and learning to help every child thrive.

You will be passionate about helping children achieve their full potential, be able to build positive relationships with pupils,staff,and families andwillingly demonstrateflexibility in responding to the varying needs of the school. A calm, nurturing approach, excellent communicationskills,and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential requirements.

Experience of supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) would beadvantageous, as would a commitment to promoting inclusion and ensuring that all children feel valued and supported,and are successful in their learning.

We are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant who:
  • can follow plans and work on their own initiative
  • has strong relationship-building skills and techniques
  • is passionate about helping children reach their potential despite challenges
  • can communicate clearly with children andadults, verbally and in writing
  • has experience of working withall ages of children in school
  • is able tosupport a range of abilities including pupils with SEND
  • can work both with a small groupand on a 1-to-1 basis with pupils
  • can adhere to policies and procedures and follow GDPR guidelines
  • canmaintainconfidentiality
  • is confident in supporting good behaviour management skills
  • has a desire toparticipatein school and trust CPD opportunities
  • has afull understandingof Safeguarding
  • is willing to travel to other school sites asrequired.

Qualifications:
Essential:
  • grade C/4+ level Numeracy and Literacy
  • has a basic level of computer literacy.
Desirable:
  • relevant Teaching Assistant qualification
  • willingness to undertake further Teaching Assistant qualification training
  • early Years Level 3 qualification.
