Role Overview

A teaching assistant is needed for a special educational needs (SEN) school in Portsmouth, supporting nursery and primary students aged 3-11, particularly those with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) and complex needs.

Responsibilities

• Support students with ASD and complex needs
• Provide academic support in one-on-one or small group settings
• Promote positive and inclusive classroom environment and offer emotional support
• Implement positive behaviour management strategies, including physical restraints if necessary
• Use positive reinforcement techniques and assist with Behaviour Support frameworks
• Support alternative teaching methods like Lego therapy and intensive interaction sessions
• Ensure safeguarding policies are followed to maintain student safety

Requirements

• Right to work in the UK
• Up-to-date DBS check
