Job summary

Axcis Education Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support classroom teachers in Caterham. You will help with lesson delivery, assist pupils with varying needs, and contribute to a positive learning environment.

The role is full-time, permanent, 8:30am–4:00pm, with pay aligned to the TA pay scale. You will participate in training, safeguarding duties, and school events, while building strong collaborative relationships with staff, pupils, and families.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs (English and Mathematics) required.
  • Proven experience working with children in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents and external agencies.
  • Commitment to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.

Responsibilities

  • Aid the class teacher with daily lesson delivery, including setting up resources and supervising activities.
  • Provide one-to-one or small-group assistance to pupils who require additional support, reinforcing learning objectives.
  • Monitor and record student progress, reporting observations to the teacher and contributing to individual education plans.
  • Maintain classroom discipline, ensuring a safe and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Assist in preparing teaching materials, marking routine assignments, and organizing educational displays.
  • Support the implementation of school policies on safeguarding, health, and welfare.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required.

Role Overview We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support classroom teachers in delivering high-quality education to pupils of varying ages and abilities. The successful candidate will foster a positive learning environment, assist with lesson preparation, and provide targeted support to ensure every student reaches their full potential.

Person Specification

  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies.
