Job summary

Axcis Education Recruitment is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 4-11 in Walton, Surrey. You will assist with lesson delivery, supervision, and classroom routines, helping create an inclusive, safe learning environment.

The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, 08:00–15:30, on-site in a vibrant community school, with opportunities for professional development and ongoing training. DBS check is required or will be processed by Axcis on your behalf, supporting safeguarding

Qualifications

  • GCSEs including English and Mathematics or relevant teaching qualifications.
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and commitment to inclusive practice.

Responsibilities

  • Support the lead teacher in planning and delivering differentiated lessons.
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group assistance to reinforce concepts and encourage participation.
  • Supervise pupils during classroom activities, breaks and excursions ensuring wellbeing and safety.
  • Help maintain accurate records of attendance, progress and behaviour.
  • Contribute to the preparation of teaching resources, displays and classroom organisation.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff and external agencies as required.

Job Title: Teaching Assistant

Salary: Paid to scale (according to experience and qualifications)

Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated Teaching Assistant to support classroom teachers in delivering high-quality education to pupils aged 4-11 in Walton, Surrey. The successful candidate will foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment, assisting with lesson preparation, student engagement, and pastoral care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the lead teacher in planning and delivering differentiated lessons.
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group assistance, reinforcing concepts and encouraging participation.
  • Supervise pupils during classroom activities, breaks, and excursions, ensuring wellbeing and safety.
  • Help maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and behaviour.

Essential Qualifications & Experience
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics, or relevant teaching qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 3).

  • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a commitment to inclusive practice.
