Job summary

GSL Education is hiring a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils at a Wakefield school. You will work closely with teachers to assist learning, behaviour and wellbeing in a positive, inclusive environment.

The role involves 1:1 and small-group support across year groups, literacy and numeracy interventions, and close collaboration with SEN staff to meet individual needs. Start date is September 2026 with flexible full-time opportunities.

Qualifications

• A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
• Previous experience working within a school or educational setting.
• Experience supporting children with additional learning needs or SEND.
• Confidence providing 1:1 and small-group support.
• A patient, caring and adaptable approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH or behaviours that challenge would be advantageous.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
• Team Teach training would be desirable but is not essential.
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• A fully checkable employment and reference history.

Salary: £90-£120 per day, dependent on experience
