Job summary

The Basildon Academies are seeking a committed Teaching Assistant to support students and work with teachers across our Basildon sites. The role is term-time, 37 hours per week, 39 teaching weeks, starting November 2026. DBS checks and safeguarding will be required as part of the appointment process.

Ideal candidates will have GCSEs including English and Maths, strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently, knowledge of SEN, and comfortable using ICT to support learning.

Qualifications

• 5 GCSEs grade C or above, including English and Maths.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and clear communication.
• Ability to work independently and use ICT to support learning.
• Experience with SEN and in primary/secondary settings.
• Patient, encouraging and resilient demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Support SEN students in classroom and 1:1 settings.
• Assist with learning activities and ICT tools.
• Promote a safe, inclusive learning environment for all students.
• Assist with parent evenings or school events as required.

Salary Range: Band 3 FTE£28,351 - £30,681. Actual starting salary £24,316with performance based yearly increments

Working Weeks: 39 weeks (Term Time) and Parent/Open evening as required

Working Hours: 37 hours per week (08:00 -16:00 Mon/Thurs and 08:00-15:30 Fri)

Our academy operates across two sites.The Lower Academy specialises in the teaching of our Key Stage 3 students, whilst The Upper Academy specialises in teaching Key Stage 4 and 5.The appointed Teaching Assistant will begin their BA career at the Upper Academy.

Working in partnership with class teachers and the pastoral team, you will be a champion for SEN students.

The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:

• Have 5 GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics
