Job summary

Bishop Tufnell CE Primary School in Felpham, Bognor Regis, seeks a Teaching and Learning Support Assistant to aid pupils, including those with EHCPs or SEND. The role is 31.25 hours per week during term time, Monday to Friday, 8:30–3:15, on a fixed-term contract to July 2027.

The successful candidate will support learning, monitor behaviour, and help with personal needs while contributing to an inclusive, collaborative school culture that values every child.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide learning activities for individuals and groups under teacher supervision.
  • Monitor pupil conduct and intervene to resolve issues.

  • Adapt resources and methods to suit learners' needs.
  • Work with pupils outside standard timetable when required.
  • Escort pupils on educational activities and outings.
  • Support therapy or care programmes as directed.
  • Attend to personal needs including hygiene and welfare.

About the Role

Bishop Tufnell is on a journey to excellence, and we are seeking to appoint a Teaching and Learning Support Assistant to join us on this journey.

The role is 31.25 hours per week, term time only, to start in September/October 2026. We are looking to recruit an individual who can provide support for children with an EHCP (Education Health Care Plan) or are in the process of receiving an EHCP. Experience of working with vulnerable children and those with SEND would be an advantage. The post is Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.15pm and is initially being offered on a fixed term contract to July 2027.

Key Roles:
  • Provide learning activities for individuals and groups of pupils under the direction and supervision of a qualified teacher, differentiating and adapting learning programmes to suit the needs of the children in the class including pupils with SEN.
  • Monitor pupils conduct and behaviour throughout the learning process and intervene to resolve complex or challenging issues.
  • Supervise individuals and groups of pupils throughout the day, including in the classroom, playground and dining areas.
  • Select and adapt appropriate resources/methods to facilitate agreed learning activities.
  • Work with pupils not working to normal timetable.
  • Escort and supervise pupils on educational and out of school activities.
  • Work with pupils on therapy or care programmes, designed and supervised by a therapist or care professional.
  • Attend to pupils’ personal needs including toileting, hygiene, dressing and eating as well as helping with social, welfare and health matters.
