Job summary

Glenleigh Park Primary Academy is seeking a dynamic Year 6 Teacher (0.6 FTE) on a permanent basis. The role is suitable for experienced teachers and involves delivering high-quality teaching to KS2 students and preparing them for secondary education.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status is required.

Job description

Glenleigh Park Primary Academy is looking to recruit a dynamic and enthusiastic Teacher (Year 6) on a permanent basis to continue inspiring young minds. This is a part-time role (0.6 FTE), offering an exciting opportunity to join our dedicated and supportive team. This role is unsuitable for ECTs.

As our Year 6 Teacher, you will play a vital role in preparing pupils for secondary school, delivering high-quality teaching that inspires, motivates and challenges learners to achieve their very best.

Knowledge and Understanding of the National Curriculum essential

Ability to have strong/meaningful child interactions to support their early communication essential

Ability to form positive relationships with parents/carers and colleagues essential

Good oral and written communication skills essential

Ability to plan curriculum coverage of skills and carefully sequenced sessions essential

Excellent planning and organisational skills essential

Ability to work as part of a team essential

Excellent interpersonal skills essential

To be able to set SMART targets when writing individual support plans (ISPs)

CPD / Training

Further relevant professional studies

Experience

Successful partnership working with other schools and/or academies, external agencies, and stakeholders essential

Working in partnerships with parents essential

Setting up an inspiring class that is engaging to all children's stages of development essential

An understanding of the importance of inclusion and diversity essential

Teaching experience in more than one school

Demonstration of experience bringing about improvement in pupil outcomes

Record of parental engagement experience

Experience or referral to the use of ICT within the learning environment

Recent teaching experience

Experience/Knowledge

Sound knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and National Primary Curriculum essential

An understanding that safeguarding children is central to the role and can spot signs of abuse/neglect in children essential

Ability to report on pupil progress (observations, assessments, parental reports) essential

Recent primary teaching experience - either EYFS, KS1, or KS2

Experience working with outside agencies to support children's progress/well-being

Experience of supporting children with limited verbal communication

An understanding of the pedagogy of early reading and phonics, particularly Read, Write Inc.

To have knowledge and a keen interest in leading a curriculum area

Knowledge of reporting behaviour/safeguarding concerns on an electronic platform

Leadership

Ability to work effectively as part of the school team and with governors, trustees, pupils, guardians/carers, stakeholders and partners within, and beyond, the education sector essential
