Job summary

Glenleigh Park Primary Academy in Bexhill-on-Sea is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support the Reception class on a fixed-term basis. You will work closely with the class teacher to create a stimulating and caring learning environment, supporting learning, wellbeing and student emergence.

The role requires GCSEs in Maths and English, and a proactive approach to safeguarding and teamwork. Aurora Trust-wide CPD and a supportive multi-academy trust are part of the offer, with DBS checks

Qualifications

  • GCSE Maths and English grade 4-9 (A-C) or equivalent essential
  • NVQ Level 2 for Teaching Assistants, in Childcare or in Playwork, or equivalent desirable
  • Experience using IT to support pupils in the classroom
  • Read, Write, Inc. and/or daily supported reader experience desirable

Job description

Glenleigh Park Primary Academy is looking to recruit a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our Reception Class on a fixed term basis helping to inspire and support children as they begin their primary school journey.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and nurturing individual who will play a key role within our Early Years team, working closely with the class teacher to create a stimulating, engaging and caring learning environment. You will support children's learning and development, promote their wellbeing, and help them build the confidence, independence and skills they need to thrive.

Qualifications

GCSE Maths and English grade 4-9 (A-C) or equivalent essential

NVQ Level 2 for Teaching Assistants, in Childcare or in Playwork, or equivalent desirable

Knowledge of strategies to recognise and reward efforts and achievements towards self-reliance that are appropriate to the age and development stage of the pupils

Experience

Experience of establishing positive relationships with children and/or young people essential

Experience of working as part of a team essential

Ability to use appropriate language and other communication skills that can be clearly understood essential

Ability to consistently and effectively implement agreed policies, practices and strategies essential

Previous experience in a similar role

Experience of using IT to support pupils in the classroom

Previous experience of Read, Write Inc. and/or daily supported reader

Ability to provide levels of individual attention, reassurance and support with learning tasks, relevant to the pupils’ needs

Ability to monitor pupils’ responses to learning activities and, where appropriate modify and/or adapt the activities as agreed with the teacher to achieve the intended learning outcome

Ability to carry out and report on systematic observations of pupils’ knowledge, understanding and skills

Experience/Knowledge

Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the legal and organisational requirements for maintaining health, safety, and security of yourself and others essential

Knowledge or awareness of the SEN Code of Practice
