Job summary

Dumfries and Galloway Council is seeking a committed Primary Teacher for the Sanquhar Learning Centre. The post is based at Sanquhar Primary School, 35 hours per week, a temporary contract to August 2027. Applicants should have experience with additional support needs and be registered with the GTCS in the appropriate sector.

The role involves collaborative work with families, external agencies and colleagues, and adherence to safeguarding and PVG scheme requirements.

Teacher Primary (Temporary) Sanquhar Primary School Learning Centre Teacher Scale £36,159 - £54,453

We are looking to recruit a committed and enthusiastic teacher to join our team. This post is based within the Learning Centre within Sanquhar Primary School. Candidates should have experience and understanding of working with additional support needs or have an interest in working within a Learning Centre.

The post is for 35 hours per week and is temporary until August 2027. The position may be suitable for a Secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post on a secondment basis.

Primary School is situated in the scenic Upper Nithsdale area of Dumfries and Galloway, serving the Royal Burgh of Sanquhar and Wanlockhead. Sanquhar is easily accessible from much of Dumfries and Galloway, as well as neighbouring areas in Ayrshire, Lanarkshire and Glasgow.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a sound understanding of a range of teaching methodologies and curricular approaches and will work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, external agencies and the wider community. Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector. This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council. Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
