Job summary

Rise Park Academies seeks a dedicated SEND leader to join the SEND Base team. You will lead a team of support staff and develop bespoke provisions to help our highest needs pupils learn and progress.

You will work with the SENDCo, deliver lessons, plan resources, assess progress against EHCP targets, maintain a safe learning environment, and engage with parents. The role values safeguarding, reflective practice and adherence to Teachers’ Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the SEND Team to develop the curriculum for the SEND Base pupils.
  • Prepare and deliver lessons in accordance with the school’s policies.
  • Plan lessons and teaching resources that enable pupils to learn and progress.
  • Assess pupil learning and track progress especially against EHCP/IPP targets.
  • Use assessment to inform teaching and planned interventions.
  • Create an effective learning environment through resources and behaviour management.
  • Be a reflective practitioner, keeping up to date with educational thinking.
  • Develop positive relationships with parents through IPP meetings and events.
  • Ensure school equipment is used safely and contribute to the school appraisal system.
  • Carry out duties as assigned by the Executive Headteacher.
  • Be an effective practitioner and demonstrate competencies across the DfE Teachers’ Standards.

Rise Park Academies consists of a separate Nursery, Infant and Junior School with 3 forms of entry. The schools share a school site and work closely together. The school is part of the Success For All Education Trust (SFAET) alongside Redden Court, Royal Liberty and Sanders Drapers Secondary Schools. https://www.sfaet.co.uk/

Main Purpose
  • To lead a team of support staff to develop and deliver a bespoke provision for our highest needs pupils.

  • To be responsible for ensuring the pupils you teach are able to learn effectively and to make progress.

  • To support the SENDCo within the SEND Base and the delivery of its provision

Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning

To work as part of the SEND Team to develop the curriculum for the SEND Base pupils.

Prepare and deliver lessons in accordance with the school’s agreed policies and procedures.

Plan lessons and teaching resources that enable pupils to learn and make progress.

Assess pupil’s learning and track progress especially against EHCP/IPP targets.

Use assessment to inform teaching and learning and planned interventions.

Create an effective learning environment through the proper use of resources and effective management of pupil behaviour.

Be a reflective practitioner, keeping up to date, through reading and INSET, with educational thinking.

Be a positive role model for pupils, encouraging them to behave in accordance with the school rules.

Develop positive relationships with parents through IPP Meetings, Parents’ evenings and in any form of informal communication.

Ensure that school equipment is used safely.

Take an active role in the school appraisal system to review own progress and set targets for future development.

Other Professional Responsibilities
  • Take appropriate action to identify and minimise any risks to health, safety and security in the immediate working environment.

  • Work in accordance with the values of the school particularly with regard to promoting positive attitudes towards tolerance and respect for other people.

  • Work in accordance with school policies and procedures as identified in the staff handbook.

  • Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.

  • Contribute to the school's continued development and play a major part in our future success.

  • Carry out associated duties as are reasonably assigned by the Executive Headteacher.
