TEACHER OF SCIENCE

PERMANENT FULL TIME START 1ST SEPTEMBER 2025

Salary: MPS/UPS*

Are you able to accelerate scientific learning environments and make the organisms, genetics, ecosystems, atoms, Newton’s Law of Motion, ionic compounds, chemicals and many other concepts meaningful to the lives of the next generation?

Joseph Leckie Academy are seeking to appoint an excellent classroom practitioner who is an enthusiastic, innovative and engaging teacher of Science, to join a dynamic and expanding faculty.

Key Responsibilities:
• Implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students and support a designated curriculum area as appropriate.
• Monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher.
• Facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
• Contribute to raising standards of student attainment.
• To share and support the Academy’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.
• Support and maintain collaborative relationships with staff and external professionals.
• The successful candidate must hold QTS, or equivalent, and an honours degree in Biology, Chemistry or Physics.

We would welcome applications from teachers early in their careers including PGCE students through to experienced staff.

*A substantial recruitment payment may be awarded for the successful candidate with the right experience(s) in line with the Academy’s Pay Policy. In addition, we would consider a re-location package of up to £5,000 for a candidate who may have to re-locate.

Our last Ofsted inspection judged the Academy to be good in all categories and for overall effectiveness, with some excellent feedback across all subjects and our Pastoral Care.

You will have/show:
• Practical skills and expertise as outlined in the Job description.
• A passion and vision for working with students in their personal, social and emotional needs as well as their academic development.
• The ability to motivate and inspire students.
• Experience of delivering GCSE Combined Science and/or Separate Science is essential and preferably also Single Science in at least one of the specialist areas, though
it is expected you will teach all three areas.
• The ability to teach A Level in one of the three areas or contribute to BTEC Science at KS5 is highly desirable.
• The passion to enrich the lives of our students and contribute to the development of Cultural Capital to enhance the life opportunities for our students.
• A clear understanding of the importance of Safeguarding.
