Job summary

Houstone School is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Teacher of Maths to join our committed department. You will deliver high-quality maths lessons to pupils across KS3–KS5, drive attainment, and contribute to our supportive, high-expectations culture.

The successful candidate will hold Qualified Teacher Status with a maths degree desirable, have a can-do attitude, strong communication and behaviour management skills, and be prepared to work within our year teams to support pastoral

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) required.
  • Strong knowledge of KS3/KS4/KS5 mathematics is preferred.
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate teaching and learning.

Key Duties

  • Be able to develop, plan and deliver effective and high-quality learning experiences to all pupils

  • To set high expectations for all pupils, to deepen their knowledge and understanding and to maximise their achievement.
  • To assess pupils' work systematically and use the results to inform future planning, teaching, and curricular development.

The successful candidate will have

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • A 'can do' attitude, hard-worker and a mathematics degree would be fantastic
  • Good behaviour management skills and a sound knowledge of the KS3, KS4 mathematics curriculum KS5 desirable.
  • Resilience and the ability to work as part of a team and undertake pastoral duties as part of a year team.
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate teaching and learning.
  • Ability to deliver high quality lessons, evaluate the impact of these and develop future planning accordingly.
  • A commitment to inclusive education support from a hard-working team.
  • Excellent communication and team-working skills
  • Passion, creativity and energy towards your subject area and educating young people.

Job specifics

Start Date: 1stSeptember 2026


Salary: AST 1-12 dependent on experience plus possible £5,823 allowance for additional responsibilities


Job role: Full time, Permanent
