Vacancy Description
  • In year 1, Apprentices will spend 3 days studying at university and 2 days developing in school. They will build progressively from TA support initially to 40% teaching timetable by the end of year 2.
  • In year 2 and 3, they will spend 3 days in the school and 2 days studying at university. Gradually building their teaching commitment to 60% timetable.
  • In year 4, Apprentices will spend 4 days at school with one further day at University. Their teaching commitment will increase to 80% in preparation for successful completion and QTS accreditation.
  • Teacher apprentices in year 1 will observe and reflect upon practices used by a range of staff predominantly in their specialist subject, but will also receive excellent support and training in reflecting on practices of pedagogy that are transferable in different subjects.
  • They will experience a range of different other roles of the teacher including the work of the pastoral team, SEN and inclusion departments.
  • Teacher apprentices will have a timetable progressively planned to support their development and build their confidence, skill set and ability to teach across Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 by year 4.
