Job description

Shape critical thinkers and informed citizens! At Co-op Academy Swinton, we are seeking an enthusiastic History Teacher who can weave together narratives that captivate students and spark their imagination!

Our aim is to ensure that our students are given every opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of their background. We are looking to appoint a History teacher who shares our vision for an ambitious, supportive, and nurturing learning environment and curriculum.

In addition to academic success, we pride ourselves on students' behaviour. We aim for high achievement in an environment based on rewards, not sanctions. Our experienced pastoral team works closely with our teaching staff to support students throughout their secondary school journey. You will embody our vision and values and demonstrate exceptional professional behaviours.

Why us?

Our academy caters to pupils aged 11-16. Located within easy reach from all areas of the North West, with Swinton train station less than a 5-minute walk, we have a dedicated team that fosters positive relationships and a caring culture. Our recent Ofsted inspection (June 2024) graded us as ‘Good’ in all areas.

All our values are rooted in the Co-op Group's principles, guiding our behaviour.

  • Self-help: We encourage independence and self-initiative.
  • Self-responsibility: We promote responsible behaviour and independent learning.
  • Equality: We celebrate our multicultural environment, respecting differences and ensuring equal opportunities.
  • Equity: We reward achievement fairly, encouraging all students to succeed.
  • Democracy: We value student and staff contributions to our community.
  • Solidarity: We believe in working together to achieve more.
Our Values

As part of the Co-operative Group, our ethos is guided by core values:

  • Succeed together
  • Do what matters most
  • Be yourself, always
  • Show you care

If you share these values, we would love to hear from you!

Our employee benefits include:

  • Membership with Co-op, including a 10% discount in Co-op Food stores.
