Contract Type: Part-Time

GSL Education are looking to hire qualified and experienced MFL Teacher to work as Teacher of French at a client Secondary School near to Malton, North Yorkshire starting in September 2024 . You will play a key role in inspiring students to develop their language skills and cultural understanding.

About the School:

  • The school is an academy for students aged 11 to 19, with about 800 students enrolled overall.
  • The school was grades “Good” by Ofsted on all categories.
  • As an inclusive school, they work hard to satisfy the needs of a wide variety of children and to celebrate them.
  • Resources are allotted by the school in a flexible manner to specifically target and assist pupils with SEND.
  • Students in all year groups actively participate in the many clubs, activities, and societies that the school offers.
  • They firmly believe that in order to serve students and their families, consistent and efficient safeguarding protocols must be in place.
  • Students are taught how to grow and succeed by many figures, including the Duke of Edinburgh, Dance Leaders, and the Extended Project Qualification.

As a Teacher of French, your responsibilities will include:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective French lessons to students across Key Stages 3, and 4.
  • Focus on developing students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in French Language.
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with special educational needs.
  • Develop and update the MFL curriculum in line with national standards and school policies.
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves in the target language.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in language teaching.
  • Prepare students for external examinations, including GCSE and A-level, through effective teaching and tailored revision sessions.

Teacher of French Requirements:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience teaching French in a secondary school setting.
  • Excellent proficiency in the French language, including fluency in speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Experience working with children who have a variety of disabilities and/or learning difficulties, or an eagerness to go through training.
  • Build and maintain appropriate relationships with staff, students, and outside agencies.
  • Have an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one.
