St Gabriel’s RC High School is part of the St Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Academy Trust and welcomes students of all abilities, aged 11-16. We celebrate strong academic success and are ranked highly in the local authority (Bury). Ofsted graded us as a ‘Good’ school in all areas in March 2023, and we encourage applicants to read our report. As a faith school, Christ is at the center of who we are and all that we do. We are currently graded as 'Outstanding' in all areas by Salford Diocese. St Gabriel’s is renowned for fantastic pastoral care, which we often receive praise for from parents/carers and our students.

Our Mission:

Our Trust Mission is to make Christ known, making lives better for our communities, our children, and young people.

Our Values:

One of Hope:

Inspired by St Teresa of Calcutta, we are people of hope. We believe in the future we will build together. By offering our children, staff, and schools opportunities to grow and flourish, we turn aspiration into reality. Our people are relentless and fiercely ambitious, just like St Teresa, always reaching for what seems just out of reach.

One of Courage:

Modelled by St Teresa of Calcutta, we will have the courage to do what is right. We will make decisions that ensure our communities thrive and support the most vulnerable with bravery and support.

One of Innovation:

Following the example of St Teresa of Calcutta, we will pursue new ideas and best practices in all areas. We aim to prepare our students for a changing world that they will shape and influence.

Purpose of the Role:

We seek to appoint an inspirational, enthusiastic teaching professional to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to meet the Teachers’ Standards and contribute to the curriculum and year teams, supporting the school's mission and aims. As a Catholic school professional, you will deliver high-quality teaching, contribute to team efforts, reflect on your practice, and seek continuous improvement through innovation and research.

We are seeking an individual who:

  • Is an exceptional practitioner with strong subject knowledge and experience of raising achievement across diverse abilities.
  • Is highly motivated by the belief that all young people's life chances can be improved.
  • Is a well-qualified, industrious, and talented team player committed to lifelong learning and helping pupils develop vital skills and attitudes.
  • Possesses interpersonal skills and pedagogical approaches that contribute to the success of the staff and team.
  • Has a proven track record of positive impact.

We can offer:

  • A supportive and dedicated governing body and staff
  • Effective safeguarding procedures
  • A respectful and valued working environment
  • Supportive colleagues and governors with high aspirations
  • Dedicated professional development opportunities
  • A welcoming, calm working environment
  • Opportunities within the wider STOCCAT team
  • Teachers’ Pension Scheme

Prospective candidates are encouraged to visit the school. Please contact Ms B Jackson at bjackson@stgabrielshigh.stoccat.org.uk or 0161 764 3186 to arrange a visit.

The Trust is committed to diversity and inclusion, welcoming applicants regardless of age, disability, ethnicity, faith, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, parental status, or socio-economic background.

Commitment to Safeguarding:

The Trust prioritizes safeguarding and expects all staff to share this commitment. All appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check, references, and suitability assessments. Further details are available on the DBS website or upon request. Applications must be submitted via our standard form; CVs alone are not accepted. Shortlisted candidates will undergo an online search and complete self-disclosure forms regarding cautions and convictions.
