Job description

The Fulham Boys School is seeking an inspirational and committed teacher of Economics.

Economics has become increasingly popular at FBS with many boys choosing to take the subject for A Level. The enterprising character of our young men means they are intrigued and excited by the world and relish having opportunities to bring their learning to life.

The Business and Economics department has achieved some great successes in recent years. In GCSE Business Studies a third of students gained a grade 7 or above placing the department in the top 13% nationally for progress while at A Level the department once again broke all previous headline figures and fell in the top 25% nationally. Economics results saw 42% of the students achieve a grade A or above, also placing the department in the top 25% nationally.

About The Fulham Boys School

The Fulham Boys School, located in the heart of Fulham, is a highly successful and oversubscribed school with a good reputation in the local community. In 2024 at GCSE the school sits in the top 3% nationally for progress and achieved 90% 4+ in English & Maths and 73% 5+ in English & Maths. In the sixth form, the school is proud to once again achieve ALPs 3 which places us in the top 25% nationally for KS5 results.

We offer all of our students an extended school day with all of our boys in school until 4:10pm Monday to Thursday and 2:45pm on Fridays. During this time, our extensive co-curricular offer enables students to take on a new sport or find their passion in debating, gardening or social enterprise. We want our students to leave FBS equipped for the workplace and life beyond.

What we offer

As a school we are passionate about the professional development and wellbeing of all of our staff. We offer:

  • 172 school days per year with 5 INSET days
  • Sixteen (16) weeks of school holidays - more than most state schools
  • An annual staff wellbeing day where the school is closed
  • Exceptional commitment to effective, evidence-based CPD that takes place on a daily basis and supports all staff to grow in their roles and prepare for future roles.
  • Free staff lunches during term time, tea, coffee, biscuits and fruit in the staff room
  • Subscription to the Education Support employee assistance programme
  • Half-termly ‘shining lights’ where staff nominate others for recognition
  • Regular staff socials and sport
  • Use of the on site gym
