Job summary

South Bromsgrove High seeks an outstanding Design & Technology teacher to join from summer term 2027 (or earlier). The post is full-time and permanent, focusing on GCSE and A Level Design & Technology after a curriculum review.

The successful candidate will teach a range of D&T subjects and be confident in teaching students to work with wood, metal, polymers, electronics, and mechanisms. Prior experience in Engineering/3D design is desirable but not essential.

Job description

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding and enthusiastic teacher of Design & Technology. The successful candidate would be joining the department from summer term 2027 (or an earlier start could be considered). The post is full-time and permanent. The successful candidate will be passionate about inspiring staff and students, and committed to driving excellence across academic and vocational pathways. As part of our strategic curriculum review, we are moving away from Engineering and 3D Design towards GCSE and A Level Design & Technology (Product Design).

MAIN DUTIES OF POST

The successful candidate will teach one or more of the following:

• AQA GCSE Art and Design (Three-dimensional design)
• AQA A Level Art and Design (Three-dimensional design)
• AQA GCSE Engineering
• AQA GCSE Design & Technology
• OCR A Level Design & Technology (Design Engineering)
• KS3 Design and Technology (year 9)

Previous experience of teaching Engineering and/or Three-dimensional design is desirable but not essential. However, it is expected that the successful candidate will be confident in teaching students to work with one or more of the following: wood; metal; polymers; electronics; mechanisms.
