Job Advert

Teacher of Craft, Design & Technology, Linlithgow Academy, 35 hours per week, Fixed Term until 13th April 2026, Closing Date 5th May 2025

This post has an 11th August 2025 start date (subject to completion of all recruitment checks) but can also accommodate an immediate start.

Linlithgow Academy is a six-year comprehensive school offering students in the Linlithgow Area a progressive, relevant, challenging, and enjoyable curriculum with opportunities for personalisation and choice. We strive to ensure that students have the highest quality learning experiences.

We offer the full range of National Qualifications found in a modern Scottish secondary school. Our aim is to provide experiences that foster a creative and enterprising attitude in our students, helping them develop pride and ambition to contribute positively to the local, national, and international community.

Linlithgow Academy provides all students the opportunity to succeed. Our excellent facilities and committed staff enable us to offer the highest standard of education in a safe, caring, and stimulating environment where everyone's achievements are recognised.

We believe the curriculum is not only about 'what' students learn but also 'how' they learn. Emphasising the student experience, we seek flexibility to ensure success in examinations and personal achievement pathways.

The school has 100 teaching staff, with departments organized under the leadership of a Principal Teacher Curriculum for each Curricular Area.

You will work collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure a high-quality student experience aligned with curricular design principles and student entitlements, aiming to maximize achievement and attainment for all. Our mission, "Together we Thrive," underscores our collaborative approach to improvement, valuing every voice. Our core values—kindness, curiosity, perseverance, and fairness—guide daily decision-making.

We are committed to employing a diverse workforce reflecting Scotland's communities. Applications from all backgrounds, especially from under-represented groups—including people with disabilities, minority ethnic communities, or socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds—are encouraged.

West Lothian Council is dedicated to transforming our Education Services, providing support and an environment conducive to professional growth. Our commitment is demonstrated by achieving the Investors in People Standard, and we continually strive for excellence in service delivery and improvement.

A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland are essential.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will need to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check before starting employment, with costs covered by the candidate.

The fee for Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59; existing members pay £18.
