The role promises professional growth in a supportive environment that values innovation and holistic development.
A rare opportunity at the Perse has arisen for a Teacher of Chemistry to start in January 2026. We are looking to appoint a high achieving scientist to join a popular, dynamic and successful department.
The successful candidate will have a genuine enthusiasm for science and be well placed to generate and sustain a high degree of motivation in all pupils, who are mainly of high ability. All pupils currently take three separate sciences to GCSE, having completed preparatory separate science courses in years 7 and 8.
Chemistry teaching takes place in well-resourced laboratories. Year 9-11 students study the Edexcel GCSE curriculum, with practical work playing a key role throughout all year groups.
Sixth Form students study for the Edexcel A level qualification. Currently, there are seven chemistry classes in both the Lower and Upper Sixth Forms, totaling 179 pupils.
In 2024, public exam results in chemistry were outstanding: 64% of Year 11 pupils achieved a Grade 9, and 81% achieved a Grade 8 or above. At A Level, 77% of Upper Sixth pupils received an A or A*. Perse pupils also excelled in Olympiads and awards, with several top national placements.
The Perse School is consistently ranked among the top 20 schools nationally for exam results, with over 50 pupils receiving Oxbridge offers annually. We value a balanced approach to teaching and learning, emphasizing tradition, innovation, industry, fun, and holistic development. All staff and pupils are expected to demonstrate excellence and contribute broadly to school life.
We offer a supportive environment that promotes well-being, professional growth, and work-life balance.
