Teacher of Business Studies & Economics

We are looking for a committed individual with a passion for Business and Economics. The successful applicant will teach Business Studies and Economics in KS4 and KS5. The position could be 0.8 FTE with the potential to expand to 1.0 FTE at a later date or initially if the candidate is able to teach another subject at KS3, eg Year 7 Geography. This is an opportunity to join a stable and committed staff team in a small but growing independent school. Excellent career opportunities are afforded by the school’s plans to expand. Thames has an excellent CPD and staff mentoring programme. Thames is a thriving mainstream and diverse independent secondary school rated Excellent by ISI in its April 2022 Inspection. Located next to Clapham Junction station, the school occupies new, purpose built premises.

The role:
  1. Teaching Business Studies and Economics in KS4 and KS5
  2. Teaching another subject in KS3 initially, possibly Year 7 Geography
  3. Working from existing schemes of learning and also creating new, well-differentiated schemes of learning and resources
  4. Preparing pupils for Business Studies IGCSE and Economics A level
The post is open to an excellent teacher who will:
  1. Be a graduate with a relevant good honours degree
  2. Have some experience in either the private or maintained system
  3. Have a commitment to embracing challenges and raising pupil attainment
  4. Be a creative, inventive and dedicated classroom practitioner with a real passion for your subject
