Job summary

Thorp Academy in England is seeking a qualified teacher with an honours degree and QTS to join our team. The successful candidate will have experience teaching, learning and assessment up to KS3/4, preferably KS5, and a solid understanding of curriculum developments.

You will use a range of teaching and learning strategies, employ Assessment for Learning to raise student performance, and relate well to students and parents.

Qualifications

• Honours degree or equivalent.
• A teaching qualification together with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience of teaching, learning and assessment to KS3/4, preferably KS5.
• A good understanding of curriculum developments.
• Able to use a range of teaching and learning strategies.
• Commitment to high standards in all aspects of the academy’s work.
• Understanding of how Assessment for Learning can improve student performance and embed this in the department.
• Confidence in the use of standard computer packages to enhance learning.
• Able to use student level data to raise standards.
• Enthusiasm for your subject and a proactive mindset for improvement.
• Creative problem solving and willingness to try new approaches.
• Ability to relate to students in a pleasant and sympathetic manner and recognise safeguarding issues.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
• Pleasant, friendly, polite and punctual demeanor.
• Commitment to working as part of the Academy team and supporting the academy vision.
