Job summary

Barker’s Lane is seeking an outstanding primary classroom teacher for a Year 1/2 class to cover maternity leave. This is a full-time, fixed-term post from 1 December 2026 to 31 May 2027 with no term-time leave.

The successful candidate will join a caring school community, promote high aspirations, and work with a dedicated team to deliver a bilingual curriculum, develop Welsh language skills, and foster inclusive practices.

Qualifications

• Enhanced DBS and EWC registration required.
• Ability to work bilingually in English and Welsh.

• Promote high aspirations and foster determination to succeed in all children.
• Demonstrate innovation, flexibility, and high levels of motivation, inspiring pupils across the school.
• Communicate effectively, showing initiative and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current pedagogy and ALN reform and curriculum developments in Wales.
• Show a strong commitment to developing both pupils’ and personal Welsh language skills.
• Deliver a rich, authentic, and learner-led curriculum that develops literacy, numeracy, and digital competence.
• Create an effective learning environment that encourages creativity, problem-solving, and independence.
• Contribute to a supportive and inclusive culture that promotes equality, respect, and positive well-being.
• Share skills and expertise to enhance and develop a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities.
• Skills / keen interest in the development of music is desirable but not essential.

Job description

The Governing Body at Barker’s Lane wish to appoint an outstanding primary classroom teacher for a Year 1/2 class to cover maternity leave. The post is full-time for a fixed term from 1st December 2026 to 31st May 2027 in the first instance. No term-time leave.
