Job summary

About the Role

As a Teacher of Engineering, you will deliver high-quality teaching and practical training across a range of engineering programmes, helping learners develop the technical skills, knowledge and behaviours required for successful careers within modern manufacturing.

The role will primarily focus on machining and manufacturing, with particular emphasis on CNC machine operation, programming and precision engineering. You will work with learners across full-time, apprenticeship and adult programmes, supporting them to achieve outstanding outcomes and progress into skilled employment or further study.

Working within our modern engineering facilities, you will deliver engaging practical and theory sessions, assess learner progress, maintain high standards of health and safety, and work closely with employers to ensure our curriculum reflects current industry practice.

You will become part of a supportive and ambitious team committed to delivering an outstanding learner experience and developing the engineers of tomorrow.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is passionate about engineering and enjoys developing others.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant Engineering qualification at Level 3 or above.
  • Significant industrial experience within a machining or manufacturing environment.
  • Practical experience operating CNC milling and/or turning machines.
  • Good understanding of engineering drawings, machining processes, measuring equipment and quality standards.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to supporting learners to achieve their full potential.

Desirable Requirements

Applications are particularly welcomed from candidates with experience in:

  • CNC programming using Fanuc, Siemens, or similar control systems.
  • CAD/CAM software.
  • Conventional milling and turning.
  • Precision engineering and production manufacturing.
  • Apprenticeship or work-based learning.
  • Teaching, coaching, mentoring or training within industry (teacher training can be provided).

Levelling Up Premium

Eligible further education teachers in their first five years of teaching can claim up to £6,000 after tax from 2 nd March 2026 until 31 st May 2026. They should have a teaching qualification; be working towards a teaching qualification; or intend to do so in the next 12 months. The premium will also be available over academic years starting 2025 and 2026 where teachers meet eligibility criteria.

The premium covers those teaching specific STEM and technical courses in building and construction, computing (including digital and ICT), early years,engineeringand manufacturing (including transport engineering and electronics), maths andphysics.
