Overview
We are looking for a Tax Director to lead our corporate tax department at a leading Chartered Accountancy firm. The role requires advanced technical tax expertise, leadership experience, and a proven record in client management across diverse industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of high‑quality corporate tax services for a varied portfolio of clients, balancing independent contributions with collaborative team efforts.
- Oversee corporation tax compliance, provide advanced technical tax advice, and identify planning opportunities aligned with client objectives.
- Manage detailed technical research on complex tax issues, present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders, and ensure decisions are risk‑aware and compliant with UK legislation.
- Review and provide actionable feedback on complex corporate tax cases, ensuring the highest level of technical proficiency.
- Mentor, coach, and develop junior team members, fostering continuous learning and professional growth within a supportive environment.
- Lead thought‑leadership initiatives, proactively identifying and implementing process improvements and technology‑enabled solutions to enhance efficiency.
- Drive business development and networking efforts, acting as a primary contact for the firm’s clients, colleagues, and wider network to secure new opportunities.
- Assess and mitigate operational, financial, and reputational risks, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal risk‑management procedures.
Desired Qualifications & Experience
- CTA qualified or equivalent experience in corporate tax.
- Minimum eight years of progressively responsible experience in corporate tax roles, with exposure to complex tax issues.
- Strong technical knowledge of corporate tax compliance, planning, and advisory services.
- Proven ability to review and analyze complex tax cases with high accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to clients and colleagues.
- High level of attention to detail in reviewing tax returns and deliverables.
- Previous line‑management experience, able to guide, mentor, and develop junior staff.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with tax software such as Alphatax.
- Commercial awareness, with the ability to make effective business decisions and manage key performance indicators.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive salary (£100,000, negotiable) plus bonus and benefits. A 35‑hour work week, hybrid working up to 50% and remote options may be considered.
