The role

Our private wealth offering is widely recognised by the Directories, with the Chambers HNW guide (2024) ranking lawyers in the team from every one of our office locations.

As an expert in your field, you'll enjoy a combination of tax and trusts advisory work on issues around private wealth and succession planning, as well as pulling together and managing our existing portfolio of trusts. With this role, there's a real opportunity for you to bring some innovative ideas around how we might continue to best organise this work. Our clients are wide ranging and include private individuals, families and entrepreneurs, so you'll find the role to be interesting and varied. As part of our legal 500 rated private client team, you'll find the work to be wide ranging, interesting and often high value.

Working with other lawyers from the team, your day to day role will include the following sorts of tasks: liaising with clients on any action points arising from succession and tax planning advice; attending trustee meetings and preparing minutes; overseeing and preparing trust accounts and tax returns; calculating trustees' tax liabilities in relation to income, corporate gains and inheritance tax; preparing and reviewing policy statements; dealing with trust payments and the distribution of income, both capital and discretionary and reviewing and interpreting trust deeds and other documentation.

Given that tax and trusts work involves supporting the ongoing work within our wider private client department, you'll naturally find the role to be sociable and interactive. You'll have a love of team endeavour and enjoy working collaboratively with your colleagues across the offices, helping to provide our clients with the seamless "one stop shop" service for which, here at VWV, we are renowned.

About you

You might be working at present as a Tax and Trusts Manager for a law firm, or perhaps you work for an accountancy practice and are seeking a move to a law firm. Alternatively you might have a strong background in tax and trusts but have ended up taking a slightly different path. Where will I be working?

At VWV we have a truly unique and engaging culture that we hold dear.
