Job summary

Eight Tax and Accountancy in Whiteley is offering a Tax & Accountancy Apprentice role (£23,000). This modern, supportive firm is expanding and looks for a motivated individual to start a career in accountancy and tax.

You will gain hands-on experience while working towards a professional qualification, with hybrid working after probation and a strong emphasis on development.

Qualifications

• Strong interest in accounting and tax career.
• Sound numerical and analytical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; Xero experience is a plus.
• Willingness to train for professional qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation of financial statements for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Support preparation of corporation tax and personal tax returns.
• Help complete VAT returns and Making Tax Digital submissions; maintain bookkeeping records.
• Manage Companies House filings (confirmation statements, director changes, etc.).
• Assist with client onboarding, AML checks and engagement letters.
• Communicate with clients and handle day-to-day queries.
• Gain exposure to tax planning, business start-ups and advisory work.
• Liaise with HMRC and third parties on behalf of clients.

Are you looking to begin your career in a modern, supportive and growing accountancy firm? AtEight Tax and Accountancy, we're not your typical practice. We're expanding rapidly and are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join us as aTax & Accountancy Apprentice.

Whether you're taking your first step into the industry or already have some experience, this is a fantastic opportunity to gain real, hands-on experience while working towards a professional qualification - all within a company that genuinely supports your development.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Assisting in the preparation of financial statements for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
• Supporting the preparation of corporation tax and personal tax returns
• Helping to complete VAT returns, helping with Making Tax Digital submissions, and maintain accurate bookkeeping records

What We're Looking For:

• Experience with Xero or other accounting software is an advantage, though training will be provided
• A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment
