Eight Tax and Accountancy in Whiteley is offering a Tax & Accountancy Apprentice role. Join a growing firm, gain hands-on experience, and work toward a professional qualification with strong support for your development.

You’ll work in a modern, supportive practice with hybrid working: three days in the office and two days wherever you work best. The firm provides funding towards AAT/ACCA/ACA qualifications and opportunities for progression.

Qualifications

• Interest in building a career in accountancy and tax.
• Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication; confident in Excel.
• Experience with Xero or similar accounting software is a plus; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing financial statements for sole traders, partnerships and companies.
• Support preparation of corporation and personal tax returns.
• Help with VAT returns and maintain bookkeeping records.
• Handle Companies House filings and director changes.
• Assist with client onboarding, AML checks and engagement letters.
• Respond to client queries and liaise with HMRC and third parties.
• Gain exposure to tax planning and advisory work.

We're expanding rapidly and are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join us as a Tax & Accountancy Apprentice.

Whether you're taking your first step into the industry or already have some experience, this is a fantastic opportunity to gain real, hands-on experience while working towards a professional qualification - all within a company that genuinely supports your development.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Assisting in the preparation of financial statements for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
• Supporting the preparation of corporation tax and personal tax returns
• Helping to complete VAT returns and maintain accurate bookkeeping records
• Managing Companies House filings (confirmation statements, director changes, etc.)
• Assisting with client onboarding, AML checks and engagement letters
• Communicating with clients and handling day-to-day queries
• Gaining exposure to tax planning, business start-ups and other advisory work
• Liaising with HMRC and third parties on behalf of clients

Requirements

What We're Looking For:

• A strong interest in developing a career in accountancy and tax
• Sound numerical and analytical skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Experience with Xero or other accounting software is an advantage, though training will be provided
• A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment
