Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant in Newcastle to support students aged 11–18 with additional educational needs. You will work alongside teaching staff to deliver individual and classroom support, helping students engage with lessons and develop confidence.

The role offers a temporary to long-term placement in a secondary setting, with emphasis on patience, adaptability and positive behaviour support.

Qualifications

The setting is committed to providing pupils with the individual support they need to engage positively with their education and develop their confidence.

The school is looking to take on a SEND Teaching Assistant on a short to long-term basis. The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will support students with various educational needs, working alongside teaching staff to provide individual and classroom support while encouraging engagement, independence and positive behaviour.

The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will have:

• Experience working with children or young people with additional educational needs
• Experience supporting secondary-aged students is desirable
• A patient and supportive approach
• Strong communication skills
• The ability to adapt to the individual needs of students
• A positive, proactive and resilient attitude
