Job summary

Cornwall Council's Family Help Service is looking for a Targeted Youth Support Worker to provide direct support to vulnerable young people aged 13-18 and their families. You will work with partners to deliver targeted interventions and build trusted relationships that support resilience and positive change.

This is a public/customer-facing role with an enhanced criminal record disclosure check. The post is based in Launceston, full-time, working Monday to Friday 8:45 to 17:15, with occasional

Qualifications

  • Experience of working directly with children, young people and families.
  • Ability to engage and build positive relationships with vulnerable young people.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding principles and child-centred practice.
  • Experience of delivering targeted interventions, support programmes or youth work activities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-agency team.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • A full driving licence and access to transport for business use.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support and intervention to vulnerable young people predominantly aged 13-18 and their families.
  • Build positive relationships, undertake targeted one-to-one interventions and support programme delivery.
  • Develop and monitor intervention plans, monitor progress and evidence outcomes.
  • Contribute to safeguarding arrangements and help young people access education, training and activities.
