Job summary

The Environmental & Engineering Group is seeking a skilled Tanker Driver to join the Portsmouth area team. You will drive vacuum tankers, perform pumping, servicing and cleaning, and lead project staff to meet quality and customer expectations.

Ideal candidates will have strong hands-on skills with tankers, knowledge of ship systems, and hold a valid HGV licence with CPC (ADR where applicable). This role emphasizes safety, accuracy in documentation, and teamwork on-site.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of ship systems is preferable.
• Experienced in operating vacuum tankers, pressure washers and pumping systems with practical skills using hand tools.
• Knowledgeable in confined space working, MAR pack procedures and specialist tank/bilge cleaning standards.
• Good understanding of ship systems and ability to differentiate survey, hot work and preservation cleaning requirements.
• Holds a valid HGV licence, ADR (if applicable) and CPC.
• Strong team player with excellent communication, planning and organisational skills.
• Reliable, safety focused and able to maintain attention to detail under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Drive vacuum tankers and carry out pumping, servicing, repair and cleaning of tanks, bilges and ship systems.
• Lead and organise staff on projects, ensuring work meets quality standards and customer expectations.
• Complete documentation accurately, including customer sign-offs and maintain high cleanliness on sites.
• Undertake specialist cleaning, high pressure jet washing, confined space work and fire sentry duties when required.
• Ensure compliance with waste management regulations, tanker driver regulations, PPE requirements and all Health & Safety procedures.
• Liaise with customers, support service engineers and uphold company standards at all times.

We’re on the lookout for a Tanker Driver to join our growing team.

More about the role:

• Drive vacuum tankers and carry out pumping, servicing, repair and cleaning of a wide range of tanks, bilges, compartments and ship systems
• Lead and organise staff on projects, ensuring all work meets company quality standards and customer expectations
• Complete all documentation accurately, including customer sign offs and maintain high cleanliness standards on customer sites
