Job summary

Pertemps in partnership with an established engineering client is seeking an experienced Vessel Fabricator in Swadlincote to join a growing heavy engineering operation. You will fabricate, assemble, inspect and repair pressure vessels, working from detailed drawings and specifications.

You will use guillotines, presses and welding equipment, ensure high quality, compliance with safety standards, and contribute to testing and documentation.

Qualifications

• Previous Vessel Fabricator experience in heavy engineering.
• Proficient in reading engineering drawings and specs.
• Knowledge of welding techniques and metallurgy.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and standards.
• Fabricating vessels to required dimensions and specifications.
• Using fabrication equipment including guillotines, presses and welding equipment.
• Attaching fittings and accessories per vessel designs.
• Inspecting vessels for defects and ensuring quality.
• With hydrostatic, dimensional and visual testing.
• Identifying defects and carrying out repairs or upgrades.
• Testing and refining components for safety and functionality.
• Maintaining fabrication machinery, tools and equipment.
• Following health & safety procedures and industry standards.

I am currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing engineering client who is looking to welcome an experienced Vessel Fabricator to their team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled individual who takes pride in producing high-quality work, has strong technical knowledge and is confident working from detailed engineering drawings and specifications.

The Role

As a Vessel Fabricator, you will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, inspection and repair of pressure vessels, ensuring all work is completed accurately and in line with relevant quality and safety standards.

• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and standards.
• Fabricating vessels to the required dimensions and specifications.
• Using a variety of fabrication equipment, including guillotines, presses and welding equipment.
• Shaping, assembling and preparing components used within pressure vessel manufacture.
• Attaching fittings, valves and accessories in accordance with individual vessel designs.
• Inspecting completed vessels for defects and ensuring they meet required quality standards.
• Supporting hydrostatic, dimensional and visual testing.
• Identifying defects and carrying out repairs or upgrades to existing vessels.
• Testing and refining components to ensure safety and functionality.
• Accurately documenting completed work and materials used.
• Maintaining fabrication machinery, tools and equipment.
• Following all relevant health & safety procedures and industry standards.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience as a Vessel Fabricator, Pressure Vessel Fabricator, Fabricator Welder or within a similar heavy engineering environment.
• Technical training or qualifications in welding and fabrication.
• Strong knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy and engineering requirements.
• The ability to confidently read and work from engineering drawings and plans.
• A good understanding of relevant industry and safety standards.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• The ability to manage workloads effectively and work to deadlines.
