Job summary

Nelson Permanent Placements are recruiting on behalf of a market-leading Industrial Engineering Contractor based in Swadlincote for a Tank Builder. The role focuses on assembling stainless steel tanks from engineering drawings within a workshop, with measuring, cutting, and final assembly of components.

The ideal candidate has strong stainless steel fabrication and sheet metal experience, proficient TIG welding, and a solid understanding of finishing and polishing techniques, health & safety,

Qualifications

• Experience in Stainless Steel fabrication and sheet metal work.
• Reading Engineering and Fabrication drawings.
• Strong Tig Welding experience (mainly Stainless Steel).
• Understanding Stainless Steel finishing and polishing techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assemble stainless steel tanks according to engineering drawings in a workshop environment.
• Measure up and cut stainless steel sheet metal for final tank assembly.
• Assemble components and ensure quality and safety during assembly.

Location: Swadlincote (DE11)

Rate: £35ph (CIS Subcontractor)

Hours: 39 hrs basic (up to 55 hrs with overtime)

Duration: Long Term Ongoing

Nelson Permanent Placements are currently recruiting on behalf of our client who are a market leading Industrial Engineering Contractor based on a Workshop in Swadlincote.

They are looking for a Tank Builder with strong sheet metal and fabrication experience to assemble stainless steel tanks according to engineering drawings (within a Workshop environment). You will also be required to assemble components, measure up and cut stainless steel sheet metal for final assembly of each tank.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience in Stainless Steel fabrication and sheet metal work.
• Reading Engineering and Fabrication drawings.
• Strong Tig Welding experience (mainly Stainless Steel).
• Understanding Stainless Steel finishing and polishing techniques.
• Using fabrication and Workshop equipment.
• Working independently and as part of a team.
• High attention to detail and understanding Health & Safety requirements.

Desirable Skills

• A Fabrication/Sheet Metal Apprentice-trained.
• Experience in Manufacturing tanks, food-grade equipment or pressure vessels.
• Coded Welding Qualifications/Certs.
• Experience within Food & Bev, Chemical or Pharmaceutical Industries.
• A Counterbalance Forklift Licence or Overhead Crane experience.

Tank Builder Requirements

• A Confined Spaces Certificate
• 2-3 years' experience as a Tank Builder (within a Stainless Steel Fabrication/Sheet Metal capacity) including food & bev, pharmaceutical or process settings.
• A recognised Fabrication Apprenticeship.
• Your own PPE (including a Hard Hat, Hi Vis Vest, gloves and Safety Boots).
