Job summary

Nelson Permanent Placements are recruiting a Tank Builder for a workshop in Swadlincote. You will assemble stainless steel tanks from drawings, measure, cut and fit components, and complete final assembly with TIG welding.

The role requires 2–3 years of stainless fabrication experience, a fabrication apprenticeship, and a Confined Spaces Certificate. Benefits include pension, holidays, and health insurance; applicants must have right to work in the UK.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assemble stainless steel tanks according to engineering drawings in a workshop.
• Measure, cut and assemble stainless steel sheet metal components.
• Weld and assemble components with TIG welding (stainless steel).
• Work independently and as part of a team while maintaining safety standards.

Tank Builder

Location: Swadlincote (DE11)

Salary: Up to 54K (with overtime)

Hours: 44 hrs per week (overtime available)

Nelson Permanent Placements are currently recruiting on behalf of our client who are a market leading Industrial Engineering Contractor based on a Workshop in Swadlincote.

They are looking for a Tank Builder with strong sheet metal and fabrication experience to assemble stainless steel tanks according to engineering drawings (within a Workshop environment). You will also be required to assemble components, measure up and cut stainless steel sheet metal for final assembly of each tank.

Essential Skills:

• Proven experience in Stainless Steel fabrication and sheet metal work.
• Reading Engineering and Fabrication drawings.
• Strong Tig Welding experience (mainly Stainless Steel).
• Understanding Stainless Steel finishing and polishing techniques.
• Using fabrication and Workshop equipment.
• Working independently and as part of a team.
• High attention to detail and understanding Health & Safety requirements.

Desirable Skills:

• A Fabrication/Sheet Metal Apprentice-trained.
• Experience in Manufacturing tanks, food-grade equipment or pressure vessels.
• Coded Welding Qualifications/Certs.
• Experience within Food & Bev, Chemical or Pharmaceutical Industries.
• A Counterbalance Forklift Licence or Overhead Crane experience.

Tank Builder Requirements:

• A Confined Spaces Certificate
• 2-3 years' experience as a Tank Builder (within a Stainless Steel Fabrication/Sheet Metal capacity) including food & bev, pharmaceutical or process settings.
• A recognised Fabrication Apprenticeship.
• Your own PPE (including a Hard Hat, Hi Vis Vest, gloves and Safety Boots).
