Job summary

British Transport Police is seeking a Talent Advisor to deliver Career Development and Talent Management initiatives, providing guidance and practical support across a wide range of activities. You will lead and support Talent Management projects, shaping future development and building a sustainable pipeline for the Force.

A proactive, inclusive approach and strong communication are essential. You’ll join a supportive team delivering initiatives that enhance development, progression and success

Job description

Salary: £45,050.98 per annum with yearly increments based on performance and an additional £4,775.00 London allowance for London based candidates only.

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Can be based at any of our hub locations - London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Cardiff or Glasgow.

Type of Working Arrangement: Blended approach of home and office-working is available

Hours: 37 hours per week

The Opportunity:

As a Talent Advisor within BTP, you will deliver a varied portfolio of Career Development and Talent Management initiatives and projects, providing advice, guidance and practical support across a wide range of talent and career development activities.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of talent development within BTP, supporting initiatives that enable our people to achieve their potential and build a sustainable talent pipeline for the future.

You’ll join a supportive and innovative team delivering a wide range of Talent Management initiatives that make a real difference to the development, progression and success of our people.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Lead and support Talent Management projects, providing specialist advice and helping shape the future of talent development across BTP.
  • Support the development of career pathways and progression opportunities for both police officers and police staff across the Force.
  • Build effective relationships with key stakeholders across the Force to promote and embed Career Development and Talent Management initiatives that support Organisational priorities, as well as Divisional and Departmental needs.
  • Design and deliver engaging Career Development and Talent Management activities, programmes and workshops to support employees throughout their career journey.
  • Coach and mentor staff and officers at all levels of the organisation, encouraging self-development and supporting them to achieve their full potential.

  • Performance Development Review (PDR) Process
  • Talent Pools and Talent Development
  • Pre-Promotion Development and Promotion Support
  • Development of NPPF Assessment Material and Assessor Training
  • Developing High Performing Teams
  • Fast Track - PC to Insp and Insp to Supt
  • Succession Planning
  • Coaching and Mentoring
What you’ll bring to the team:
  • To be self-motivated and pro-active with the ability to work well under pressure and with numerous and sometimes conflicting deadlines.
  • Great communication and presentation skills, pitched at all levels within the Force.
  • Confident and creative in using technology and digital platforms to engage employees, deliver development initiatives and capture meaningful workforce insight.
  • Demonstrate an inclusive approach, with a passion for building a workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
