Job summary

Salford City Council is seeking a Recruitment & Talent Team Leader for a fixed-term 12-month post. You will lead the team, combine hands-on recruitment with people leadership, and drive service excellence, compliance and process improvement.

You will work closely with the Recruitment & Talent Lead to shape practices and deliver innovative attraction and onboarding solutions. You will oversee workforce planning, pre-employment checks and safeguarding, guiding managers and external customers to

Qualifications

• Experience leading or supervising a recruitment, talent acquisition or HR team.
• Strong operational recruitment knowledge and end-to-end processes.
• Excellent safeguarding, DBS, right to work and pre-employment checks understanding.
• Experience advising managers and stakeholders.
• Ability to motivate, coach and develop others while fostering a positive culture.
• Strong organisational skills to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Knowledge of employment law and recruitment best practice.
• Familiarity with HR systems and digital recruitment tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate day-to-day activity of the Recruitment & Talent team.
• Develop staff to deliver efficient, customer-focused and compliant service.
• Provide expert recruitment and safeguarding advice to managers.
• Support campaigns, attraction initiatives and workforce planning.
• Monitor performance and ensure service standards are met.
• Review and improve recruitment and onboarding processes.
• Support internal and external audits and manage risks.
• Collaborate with HR & OD and GM to share best practice.
