Job summary

Adecco are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Tactical Buyer to join their Procurement team in Leicester. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced purchasing or supply chain professional to support a busy manufacturing environment, ensuring materials are available to meet production demands while maintaining strong supplier relationships.

The role is full-time, on-site in Leicester, 37.5 hours per week, with an initial contract until August 2027 and a view to extension.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Buyer, Tactical Buyer, Procurement or Supply Chain role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Experience using an ERP system, ideally SAP.
• Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
• Proven ability to manage purchase orders and supplier relationships.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage MRP requirements, raising and amending purchase orders to support business demand.
• Obtain supplier quotations, place orders and track deliveries.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, resolving delivery, quality and cost issues.
• Communicate forecasts and schedule changes to suppliers.
• Maintain accurate records within the ERP system.
• Monitor supplier performance and support continuous improvement activities.
• Work closely with Procurement, Engineering, Quality and Operations teams.
• Support inventory management initiatives, including stock reduction and replenishment processes.
• Resolve invoice discrepancies, receiving errors and shipment issues.
• Expedite and de-expedite materials as required to meet business needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage MRP requirements, raising and amending purchase orders to support business demand.

About You

We're looking for someone with previous experience in a Buyer, Tactical Buyer, Procurement or Supply Chain role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

Essential requirements:

• Experience using an ERP system, ideally SAP.
• Strong Excel skills, including recent experience using Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
• Previous experience managing purchase orders and supplier relationships.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage changing priorities.

Desirable:

• Manufacturing, engineering or electronics sector experience.
• CIPS qualification or supply chain certification.
• Understanding of inventory management, replenishment planning and vendor-managed inventory (VMI).

Working Hours

• Monday to Friday
• 8:00am - 4:00pm (flexibility available)
• 37.5 hours per week
• Fully office-based in Leicester
