Job summary

AECOM in the UK is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead Transmission & Distribution engineering across the UK & Ireland. You will oversee multi-disciplinary design teams for projects including substations, cables, protection & control, and civils.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in electrical or power systems engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience in Transmission & Distribution, renewables, and large infrastructure design with multi-disciplinary scope.
• Proven ability to manage complex, multi-discipline projects for UK & Ireland clients.
• Working experience with the National Grid & other TSO projects is advantageous.
• Strong client relationship management and business development skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee UK & Ireland design projects, coordinating with leads and project managers.
• Act as Technical Project Manager for multi-disciplinary design scope including substations, cables, protection & control, civils, and overhead lines.
• Lead lifecycle from concept to completion, ensuring safety, quality and standards.
• Provide regular updates on progress, costs, schedules, procurement, and design challenges.
• Mentor team members and support proposals and contract negotiations.
