Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join the Transmission & Distribution team in the UK, overseeing design projects across the UK & Ireland and collaborating with discipline leads, PMs, and directors. This role offers exposure to varied, high-profile projects like the Great Grid Partnership, with responsibilities spanning concept to detailed engineering across multiple disciplines.

Qualifications

• Degree in electrical or power systems engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience in Transmission & Distribution, renewables, large infrastructure design including multi-disciplinary scope.
• Experience managing complex multi-discipline projects and delivering for UK & Ireland clients.
• Working experience with National Grid & other TSO projects is advantageous.
• Proven client relationship management and business development skills.
• Chartered ship & LCDAE/CDAE certifications are advantageous.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee engineering design projects across the UK & Ireland, coordinating with Discipline Leads, Project Managers, and Directors.
• Act as Technical Project Manager for multi-disciplinary design projects (substations, cables, protection & control, civils, OHL, environment).
• Contribute to large programmes like the UK National Grid's Great Grid Partnership.
• Manage lifecycle from concept to completion ensuring alignment with industry best practices.
• Lead project phases: concept, FEED, environmental, permitting, planning, cost estimation, detailed engineering.
• Ensure safety, health, environmental and quality standards are met.
