Job summary

Matchtech represents a leading defence organisation seeking a Systems Proving Engineer to join the Integration and Systems Validation team in Bristol. You will plan, execute and document naval air defence trials across lab, harbour and sea environments, with UK and overseas travel.

The role requires experience in systems engineering, design proving and trials, with strong analytical skills and clear communication. Onsite work four to five days a week with security checks and UK/overseas travel.

Qualifications

  • Experience in systems engineering, systems integration or related engineering environment.
  • Understanding of design proving, trials planning, system assessment and acceptance.
  • Experience in naval integration, missile test, interface design or related fields.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to interpret trials data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with engineering teams, suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of MBSE tools (DOORS, Rhapsody, RTC) would help.
  • Coding experience, particularly Python, would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, generate and execute trials with systems engineering and design teams.
  • Create trials documentation and coordinate Trials Readiness Reviews.
  • Ensure trials data is captured and investigate design issues.
  • Conduct post-trials data analysis and produce technical reports.
  • Support laboratory and field trials across multiple environments (lab, sea, harbour, etc.).
  • Assist with lab management, risk assessments, asset management and safety.
  • Maintain hardware and software configuration control.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, subcontractors and suppliers.

Job description


Our client, a leading organisation in the defence and security sector, is seeking a Systems Proving Engineer to join its Integration and Systems Validation team in Bristol. This permanent role will support the proving, integration and validation of naval-based air defence systems, with opportunities to work across laboratory, ground, harbour, sea and firing trials in the UK and overseas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Working with systems engineering and design teams to plan, generate and execute trials
  • Creating trials documentation and preparing, delivering and following up internal and external Trials Readiness Reviews
  • Ensuring appropriate trials data is acquired and supporting the investigation and resolution of design issues
  • Conducting post-trials data analysis and producing accurate technical reports
  • Supporting laboratory-based functional integration trials, system trials, ground trials, harbour trials, sea trials and firing trials
  • Assisting with laboratory management, including risk assessments, asset management, audits and laboratory safety
  • Maintaining hardware and software configuration control
  • Communicating effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, partners and suppliers at engineering and management level
Job Requirements:
  • Experience in systems engineering, systems integration, systems proving, design verification or a related engineering environment
  • Understanding of design proving, trials planning, system assessment and acceptance
  • Experience in one or more relevant areas, such as naval integration, missile test, interface design, electronic design and test, network integration, or electrical and mechanical interfacing
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret trials data and investigate technical issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of working with engineering teams, suppliers and external stakeholders
  • Knowledge of MBSE tools such as DOORS, Rhapsody or RTC would be beneficial
  • Experience of coding, particularly Python, would be advantageous
Additional Information:
  • The role is based in Bristol and requires a predominantly onsite working pattern of four to five days per week
  • Travel within the UK and overseas may be required
  • Applicants must be British citizens or dual UK nationals with British citizenship
  • Successful applicants will be required to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks after offer stage
