Job Title: Systems Engineer - Rigs Integration

Working Pattern: Full Time - Hybrid

Working Location: Bristol

When you join as a Systems Engineer in our Defence Rigs team, you'll play a critical role in enabling complex test activity that underpins the development of next-generation aerospace technologies. You'll be central to a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team that supports a variety of programmes across the defence sector and beyond. This role sits within Test & Experimental Engineering - Defence, supporting a broad range of projects within Defence and other sectors, providing exposure to various engineering challenges and technology areas.

This role offers the chance to work on flagship programmes such as Tempest (Global Combat Air Programme) and beyond. As a Systems Engineer, you'll enable testing of new technologies through full lifecycle rig delivery—from requirements capture and interface management to systems-level integration, commissioning, and issue resolution.

Our hybrid working model allows flexibility to balance office, home, or remote work, with an expectation to attend the workplace approximately three days a week for collaboration and specific tasks.

Responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the key interface between rig delivery teams, designers, and customers
  • Managing system-level requirements, interfaces, and technical issues
  • Leading integration of complex test rigs for gas turbine and future technology applications
  • Supporting programmes such as Tempest and innovative R&T work

Candidate requirements:

  • Experience delivering systems engineering solutions in complex technical environments
  • Proficiency in requirements capture, interface management, validation & verification
  • Comfort working in ambiguous and evolving environments
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to coordinate cross-functional activities for integrated rig test solutions
