Job Description

We have an opportunity for a Systems Designer to join the Cadillac Formula 1 Team at its new Silverstone Facility. In this role, you will undertake the mechanical design & engineering of components/assemblies for our car sub-systems, primarily focusing on Cooling, Fuel, Pneumatic, Hydraulic & Exhaust Systems, with potential involvement in Powertrain Integration activities. Principal Accountabilities

• Prepare schemes, layouts, and detailed drawings of car system parts with the goal of first-time right quality.
• Take ownership of your areas, ensuring they meet requirements, including fault finding and solutions based on rig/trackside feedback.
• Serve as technical liaison with other Cadillac departments, our Power Unit partner, and suppliers/users of your parts.
• Strive for a balance between performance, reliability, and cost.
• Stay current with developments within your area of responsibility.
• Support sustainable manufacturing without compromising car performance.

Requirements

• A degree in Engineering or a relevant discipline, with a 2:1 classification or higher preferred.
• Significant experience with high-end CAD systems; Catia/3DX preferred, but training can be provided for other systems.
• Strong knowledge of the principles and physics of race car systems.
• Design experience in Powertrain Integration, Cooling, Fuel, or Hydraulic systems, ideally in motorsport. Composite design experience is advantageous but not essential.
• An active interest in innovation, such as drawing inspiration from nature or other industries, implementing new technology, additive manufacturing, AI tools, or automation.
• Inquisitiveness, commitment to continuous learning, and adaptability to changing plans.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including email correspondence.
• Self-motivated, innovative, and capable of working independently under challenging deadlines.
• Proficient in IT skills, including MS Office Suite.
• Contribute positively to an inclusive and open culture.
